We are looking for a Technical Designer for the Home category, to provide expert guidance to product developers and designers, ensuring that desired styles and fits are achieved. You will be responsible for creating design brief packs for vendors, ensuring the quality standards and troubleshooting technical issues with stakeholders. This role involves presenting solutions that align with brand objectives and ensuring vendors have all necessary information to start production. Additionally, you will support and mentor Technical Designers, helping them develop their skills and capabilities.
Key Accountabilities
Provide technical advice and support to the team regarding styling and fitting requirements.
Create and maintain accurate technical packs in the PLM system for all styles, or through an agreed manual process if no system is available.
Establish and maintain appropriate construction standards across all categories with suppliers, ensuring alignment with the brand’s quality expectations.
Pre-measure, QC check, steam, and hang all samples prior to fitting sessions. Identify variances and workmanship or construction issues, and clearly communicate them during the session.
Ensure all fit comments and construction changes are accurately captured and loaded into the PLM system after each fitting session.
Ownership of fit, including measuring charts and Fit block.
Maintain detailed records of product specifications, testing results, and quality control measures.
Ensure that products meet regulatory and safety requirements, such as product labeling and packaging.
Provide line management and leadership to the team, overseeing performance, development, and resource allocation to achieve departmental goals.
Key Capabilities
Bachelor or Diploma of Fashion/Textiles or equivalent tertiary design qualification
Proven experience as a Technical Designer, or experience in a similar role.
Proven product development experience, particularly with womenswear design and manufacturing.
Familiarity with managing relationships and operations involving overseas suppliers.
Understanding of garment grading and sizing
Understanding of patternmaking
Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop, for design purposes.
